Law Students in Recovery E-mail ListServ
A listserv has been developed by the ABA Commission on Lawyer Assistance Programs (CoLAP) to provide a confidential vehicle for law students who want to get or stay sober while in law school. It is a chance for them to ask questions of their peers throughout the United States and share their experience, strength and hope. To be added, the students should E-mail CoLAP's Director, Matthew Reel directly at:
matthew@arjlap.org
Students should be prepared to provide Mr. Reel with a summary of their history and the reasons they wish to communicate with other students facing similar challenges. Mr. Reel will provide the student with the listserv policies, and will ask them to send an introductory message to the listserv as soon as they receive confirmation that they have been added to Students in Recovery. When a student is admitted to the bar, they will notify Mr. Reel and be removed from the list.
"Hello. I found your e-mail address online after searching google for "sober law student." I understand you moderate a listserv for law students seeking to get or stay sober while in school and would like to join. My sobriety date is 5/28/03, not quite 90 days before I became a 1L. Sometimes I think all this might make me crazy, and it would be good to find other students who empathize."
Contact Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers for directions or any other information.
